Brokers urged to sharpen income assessment skills in new webinar

News

By Mina Martin

Mortgage and finance brokers will have the chance to build their compliance and document assessment skills in an upcoming webinar hosted by the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) and Latitude Financial Services.

The training will cover practical methods to strengthen loan applications, reduce lender rework, and protect both clients and brokers from fraud risks.

The webinar comes as the FBAA continues to expand its broker education initiatives. The association’s membership grew nearly 20% in the year to June 2025, reaching a record 13,298 members, and leaders have committed to rolling out new training and tech tools to support brokers’ professional growth.

Key learning outcomes

The one-hour session will provide guidance on:

  • reading and interpreting payslips across different employment types
  • understanding how deductions impact borrowing capacity
  • validating income and employment details with supporting documents
  • spotting fraud indicators before submission
  • aligning with lender and compliance expectations

Event details

The one-hour session will run online via Zoom on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 2pm to 3pm AEST. It will be presented by Nina Griffith (pictured left), broker capability manager at Latitude Financial Services, and hosted by FBAA’s Charlie Younan (pictured right).
